[ Husk was fast asleep that early in the morning. The buzzing drags him out of his peaceful slumber and he grumbles to himself, one arm comes out from under his blankets to paw around at his bedside table until he finds his phone, bringing it back to the comfort of his blanket pile. He regards the message with one sleepy eye. Then jabs a response while letting out a soft, annoyed rrrrrrrr noise. ]

It's too fucking early, Dickhead.

But okay, duly noted. 48. Thanks, Baby. Still doing this, then.

[He can't help but chuckle at that reaction. Oh Husk, you are so unaware of what this fae has in store for you.]

Early? It's actually quite late for someone like me.

Did the lottery stop running? I do believe I owe you four more numbers, and then their order.

[This Saturday, the text comes at midnight. It seems that Flins is currently on watch, his eyes cast to the sea. It's cold, but he still finds some comfort in it.]

[ Oh hey, Flins didn't wake him up in the dead of night for once! Husk is, in fact, still awake. ]

How is it out there tonight? It's pretty cold.

The sea spray can chill you to the bone, especially in December. It's certainly not for the faint of heart.

Nevertheless, the ships pass as they always have. One of the sailors waved to me earlier today. I waved back, and the smile that spread across his face was like a daisy popping up through the snow.

[This time, Flins waits until about 9AM in the morning, seeing the last of the early morning ships set out and into the foggy sea. It's a bitter cold--and although he knows the cat has resistance to the cold, he still doesn't want him out in these frigid temperatures.

His text, however, is the same as always.]

[Husk is giving himself a lie in this morning. It's cold out and resistant as it to he is, he's still a cat can he can't resist the siren song of a still warm bed. He'd been half-reading-half-dozing when the text came. After this point, he's starting to expect them, and it brings a smile to his face to see it. ]

Duly noted! 31. How was it last night? Been another cold one.

[Ah, so he was awake. That was good. He was still testing the waters on the best times to send these. There were still seven more to go.]

Cold, but peaceful. Nothing but the blinking lights of the buoys in the harbor, and the cold howl of the wind. And yet, the yellow glow of the buildings on the boardwalk are so warm. So inviting. They remind me of lanterns in that way.

[Flins had been held up by a report from Nikita (something about the insulation of the lighthouse, something about getting decent living arrangements), so he isn't able to send his weekly lottery number to Husk until later in the day.

Still, nevertheless, he sends it, soaking in the evening air.]

[Time marches on. Hard to believe that he had started this six weeks ago. It's finally come to end the first half of this venture.

It's about time for sunset, as Flins sends his text, soaking in the last of the north winds before the end of the year.]

[It'd been a quiet start to the new year. The seas were as placid and calm as ever, the bitter cold nipping at his chapped lips as Casimir joins him for the morning watch. It's about eight in the morning when Husk gets his next update that Saturday.]

[ It's definitely early, but not horribly so. Husk is still warm in bed when he gets the update - and even early as it is, it makes him smile. ]

And at least you didn't wake me up at four in the fucking morning like Cifera did yesterday. You know she's got fur now? And she decided right there and then was the perfect time to ask for my fuckin' help.

To say he was a bit worried about Lauma heading out so soon after their reunion had him watching the coast a little more diligently for any sign of the plane ride home. Watching his phone for any sign of good news.

Still, he has a bit to keep up, so its about 6am when he sends this text.]

Action; On the Plane back from Barcelona

[Now here's a happy little lamp, sitting in Husk's lap as the plane is crossing over the ocean back to the United States. He's having the time of his life, even giggling knowing he somehow got a free ride onto the plane to save airfare.

But that hasn't stopped him from remembering what day it is.]

[It's a hushed whisper, his flame flickering a little brighter.]

[ Husk is well-used to air travel - he got sent all over the world as a Black Order Guardian, after all. He's also used to the strange looks people give him, asking him about the costume and why can't he take it off - excuses he has a dime a dozen for. So lying about the lantern thing was pretty easy - sure, it means his carry on is literally his partner, but that's just how it goes somewhere.

He'd been reading a book, reading glasses perched on his muzzle when he hears Flins whispering at him. His ear swivels to the sound, before a slow smile crosses across his face. He'll murmur quietly back: ]

No it is, week came up fast on us. Duly noted. You hanging in okay in there? Ain't too boring?

[It's the morning before they're all set to go to the Crystal Tower. Dawn hasn't even broken yet, and the light of the lighthouse now shines blue like his flame. A colour that wouldn't set off the ships in the harbor as something wrong, but to symbolize Flins' dedication to helping bring their people home.

But before that...he has to do one last thing. With all the chaos, he hasn't been able to keep up with their game...]

[ For once, Husk is up at this time. He's been too anxious to get much sleep. He's been in big battles before, in both lives, and the twisted anxiety that comes before a fight is always the same.

He's surprised to get the message, and it does make him chuckle despite everything. ]

We've missed a few - it's been a rough couple weeks.

But alright - just don't turn this into an "if we don't make it outta here alive" thing, because I'll kick your ass if you do. On my way.

[And he's headed out the house, taking to the wing, going down the route to the lighthouse he could travel with his eyes closed by now. ]
